Unterkohlstätten
IN THE ÍROTTKO-GESCHRIEBENSTEIN NATURE RESERVE

Since the Burgenland municipalities were centralized in 1971, Unterkohlstätten has been the administrative seat for the districts of Glashütten bei Schlaining, Günseck, Holzschlag, Oberkohlstätten and Unterkohlstätten.

The village nestles between the foothills of the Günser Gebirge to the east and those of the Bernsteiner Gebirge to the west. Unterkohlstätten is at an altitude of 503 metres above sea level and has a population of 200.

Unterkohlstätten covers an area of 595 hectares and borders on Holzschlag and Oberkohlstätten, as well as Langeck and Goberling.

The lovely, hilly countryside around Unterkohlstätten (highest point is the Steinwandriegel - 529 metres), with cultivated fields, meadows and woods, is part of the Geschriebenstein Nature Reserve. Numerous walks and hiking trails start from here.

It is a place to experience nature in all its beauty and diversity.
