GESCHRIEBENSTEIN-ÍROTTKO NATURE RESERVE Around Burgenland`s highest point
The Geschriebenstein-Irottkö Nature Reserve covers an area of 8,500 hectares around the 884-metre Geschriebenstein, the highest point in Burgenland.
There is a splendid panoramic view of the Alps and down to the Pannonian Plain from the lookout tower on the Geschriebenstein, through the middle of which runs the border between Austria and Hungary.
More than 500 km of marked hiking trails, various educational trails, a herb garden and a forest adventure trail either side of the border (cross-border hikes have been possible for some time) entice visitors to learn interesting facts about nature and to discover this unique cultural landscape.
The Geschriebenstein-Irottkö Nature Reserve also offers many places of interest and a rich programme of events.
