Kittsee apricots owe their exceptional flavour to the Pannonian climate’s very hot summers and the “terroir”, or special soil qualities. The farmers pick the fully ripe fruit every day during the harvest period and sell it at the farm gate or from stalls in the local market.
The apricot trees flourish because of the local microclimate and produce fruit with a superb aroma and flavour. There are currently some 30,000 apricot trees on approximately 180 plots, producing 700,000 kg of quality Kittsee apricots every year. www.kittseer.marille.at
