„They are true storm and terror studies, studies for at most ten or twelve players in this world; weaker players would only evoke laughter with them.“ This is how Robert Schumann commented on the murderously difficult “Transcendental Études.” It was indeed the playing of the devilish violinist Nicolò Paganini, which Franz Liszt himself had experienced and which inspired him to play in a similar way on the piano (which he undoubtedly accomplished). The title “Études” should of course be taken with caution, as these are not practice pieces in the narrower sense. Each of these twelve great études is a cosmos in itself, is perfected music! In total, Liszt wrote three versions for an elite of virtuosos, the last of which was completed in 1851. An enormous pianistic demand that is clearly revealed in this work. The internationally acclaimed Russian-German pianist Kristina Miller, who resides in Vienna, is one of the virtuosos who not only takes on this pianistic “tour de force” with incomprehensible skill and perseverance but also executes Liszt's twelve poetic ideas continuously! One can be more than curious about her first appearance in Raiding. Perhaps you will experience something similar to a listener at the first performance? Liszt's hands are said to have raced over the keys, the ground beneath the feet trembled like wire, and the entire audience was enveloped in sound…
