Since its founding in 2009 and the first concert at the Vienna Musikverein, the K+K Vienna platform has brought unknown, rarely played pieces to life and combines virtuosic Viennese classics with new sounds.
K + K stands for Kirill Kobantschenko, the first violinist of the Vienna Philharmonic, whose broad musical horizon spans from classical to jazz to electronic sounds. His friends and colleagues, whom he has gathered around him, are all significant representatives of the music city of Vienna, and thus "K + K" is also seen as a homage to the imperial-royal music tradition of the country.
“I have always wanted to make my own music,” fulfilled the charismatic philharmonic violinist a dream: to play music that the audience has never heard in that way before. Or perhaps they have? Because at the New Year's concert in 2018, the K+K Vienna platform successfully created the intermission film. “Making music is a privilege, especially music that you choose and discover on your own, where you catch fire while studying and then pass that on to the audience,” says Kirill Kobantschenko.
In 2009, the ensemble gave its first concert at the Vienna Musikverein, where it has since performed every year in different formations. However, the programmatic orientation has remained unchanged from the beginning: to combine the history of music with the present and the future while offering the audience creative musical surprises.
