BURGENLAND STATE MUSEUM

Literally an overview of the whole province of Burgenland. Over three floors visitors to the State Museum are given an insight into the land and what makes it special: LebensBilder, LebensRäume, LebensSpuren - images of how and where life is lived and the traces that are left behind.

The basement contains one of Austria’s biggest archaeological collections, which tells the story of 10,000 years of human history. The highlights include a Roman mosaic floor, gravestones and treasures from the "Bernsteinstraße" or Amber Road

A “March through traditional music in Burgenland and the Pannonian Plain” portrays the state’s rich, multicultural musical heritage. A complex picture of the province is drawn by the history of Burgenland’s occupation, of its fauna and flora and the unique landscape around lake Neusiedl.
