GOBERLING MINING MUSEUM
Since time immemorial Goberling has been a mining region. Various minerals were already being mined in the 15th century at the time of Andreas Baumkircher, the founder of the town of Schlaining. Back then mining focused on raw materials such as iron, copper and silver.
The antimony mine in Goberling closed in 1990 for financial reasons. The mining museum now exhibits a reproduction mine. Numerous exhibits, such as a piece of drilling equipment or an image of St Barbara, the patron saint of miners, recount the history of mining in Goberling.
The guided tours led by former miners are highly recommended. Advance booking required.
