As part of an EU project, the towns of Wiesen in Burgenland and Lanzenkirchen in Lower Austria together established a day-trip destination located on the border of the two towns.
A 15-meter tall observation tower was built with a view as far as Lake Neusiedl on the one side and Steinfeld, the Bucklige Welt, the Schneeberg, and Hohe Wand on the other side. The observation tower is one of the region’s hiking highlights.
It can be easily reached from Lanzenkirchen, Ofenbach, and Katzelsdorf on the Lower Austria side. On the Burgenland side, you can hike from Wiesen, Bad Sauerbrunn, Neudörfl, and of course Forchtenstein (the Rosalia district is also good for older generations as it’s not steep).
It is not only a popular destination for hikers and families, but mountain bikers too, with relaxing loungers, tables, and benches inviting you to rest and enjoy a snack.
The observation tower can be visited all year round at any time!
