Burgenland’s first artificial lake was created between 1962 and 1964 and lies in the quiet, picturesque Faludi valley. It is approximately 300 metres long, 100 metres wide (2.7 hectare surface area) and a maximum of seven metres deep. The bathing lake is fed by springs on the south slope of the Geschriebenstein and the water quality is excellent. The total area exceeds five hectares, so even when it is being heavily used it never feels crowded. The bathing lake buffet, with a terrace for outdoor eating on the south shore, and the snack bar on the north shore, provide patrons with chilled drinks, speciality ice creams and delicious food right by the water’s edge.
Children swarm over the water slide, the floating island, the diving boards (3 and 5 metres) and the climbing frame. There are also pedaloes, a children’s playground, a skate park, a table tennis table and a beach volleyball court for sporty types, plus a camp site for visitors within the lake site, providing pitches for tents, caravans and mobile homes. The village centre and its numerous stores are just ten minutes away.
