ABOUT THE CONCERT
Two extraordinary artists will shape this matinee: Lidia Baich and Donka Angatscheva present a program that makes the dialogue between violin and piano, the diversity and depth of the interplay of the two instruments, tangible. At the center is Franz Liszt's rarely heard “Grand Duo”, a work that leads both instruments into an intense musical exchange and meets the highest virtuoso demands. Grieg, Schubert, and Chopin establish independent, weighty positions in this context. Liszt was intimately familiar with their compositions, promoted them, interpreted them, and engaged intensively with their musical thinking. A program that makes the artistic relationships of these composers audible while presenting their different expressive worlds. Lidia Baich and Donka Angatscheva are characterized by their sensitive interplay and their intense musical creativity – a finely balanced conversation between two outstanding musicians.
