The chapel in honor of St. Donatus is popularly called the vineyard chapel, because it stands far away from the village on a hill in the middle of the Neckenmarkt vineyards. It was built in 1735 under abbot priest Johannes Rohrer. Johannes Rohrer was born in Neckenmarkt on August 28, 1671. He worked as a parish priest in Neckenmarkt from 1702 to 1740.

The current altarpiece depicts the Ascension of Christ. It was painted in 1964 by the academic painter Karl Engel. The previous altarpiece was destroyed by the Russians. It also depicts the Ascension of Christ. In 1999, the Neckenmarkt Winegrowers' Association had it renovated and it now hangs on the left side wall inside the chapel.

In 2015 the chapel was renovated and got a new bell! Since then, weddings are also held here.

The romantic chapel in the vineyards is a popular destination and vantage point, which offers a breathtaking view far into the Pannonian Plain and, in clear weather, all the way to Lake Neusiedl.
