ABOUT THE CONCERT
Bach's suites for solo cello are among the most performed compositions for a string instrument and represent, for many, the essence of Bach's work. Matthias Bartolomey centers selected movements from these famous suites in his solo program, which he enriches with new, groove- and rock-influenced original compositions – completely in the spirit of duality. This creates a musical dialogue that spans 300 years. Bartolomey's original compositions serve as comments from our time, as a play of colors and reflections. Inspired by Bach's timeless motifs and rhythms, Bartolomey develops his own musical language, weaving it both tenderly and sharply contrasting around the movements of the Baroque suites. The music of Bach remains untouched and sounds in its purest form.
