ABOUT THE CONCERT
On October 22, the birthday of Franz Liszt, the Liszt Festival Raiding dedicates an evening exclusively to works by the great European composer. The connection to Hungary – 2026, the anniversary year of the 70th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 – runs like a common thread through the program. The famous Rákóczi March, long revered as the unofficial anthem of Hungary, as well as Hungarian Rhapsodies No. 4 and No. 6, full of temperament, virtuosity, and Hungarian color, will be performed. At the center is Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 2, a key work of Romanticism. Its new single-movement form, lyrical character, and chamber music elements in the interplay between piano and orchestra give the work particular coherence and expressiveness. The soloist is the award-winning pianist Kateryna Titova, who impressed with Liszt's first piano concerto last season. The Wiener KammerOrchester under Martin Sieghart will once again be experienced as a trusted dialogue partner.
A pre-concert talk with Christian Reichart will take place at 5:45 PM.
