When Joseph Haydn moved to Eisenstadt with his wife Maria Anna, he also acquired a "Kuchlgartl" together with his residence. In this herb garden a treasure of old wisdom and baroque recipes is now waiting to be rediscovered. There are almost forgotten vegetable plants, unknown spice herbs and edible flowers in Haydn's kitchen. Lilies, irises and roses found their use in the production of scented carpets and scented water, marigold salve and rose powder still care for the skin today.
