Aus der Welt fressen - Theaterstück von Johannes Hoffmann

29.09. - 03.11.2026

A production by Johannes Hoffmann and the WÜST collective in cooperation with the Theaterinitiative Burgenland. Awarded the Grand Art Scholarship for Performing Arts of the Province of Burgenland 2023.

Imagine a place built for YOU.
In the heart of Europe.
In the middle of the middle of the middle.
Every street.
Every house.
Every decision.
Everything tailored to YOU.
Blooming rapeseed fields.
Laughing children.
The smell of freshly mown grass and sunscreen fills the air.
A completely normal spring day.
Time seems to stand still.
Everything is all right.
Come home.
To where YOU can be YOU.
Where YOU know who YOU are.

Advertising is no longer just background noise. It is structure. It shapes how we live, what we desire, and what is considered "normal." What used to take place in marketplaces and on television now penetrates deeply into digital space. Algorithms analyze, predict, structure. Advertising does not disappear between two broadcasts; it permeates feeds, search queries, navigation routes, and private messages. From supermarket shelves to campaign posters to smartphones, everyday life becomes a permanent testing ground. Out of the world of consumption, this mechanism is transferred to an entire place. Between new housing developments, semi-detached houses, field edges, and bypass roads, a model location is described where the middle becomes the norm and normality is continuously reproduced.

A contemporary theater evening about the question of who determines how we want to live.
