Autumn Concert of the Burgenland Military Band

10.09.2026

TRADITIONAL – CLASSICAL – TIMELESS – SOLOISTIC

The Military Band Burgenland invites you to the traditional autumn concert at the Cultural Center Güssing. Under the motto “Traditional – Classical – Timeless – Soloistic,” the audience can expect a varied concert program that combines musical tradition with virtuosic solo contributions and impressive brass band literature.

The festive opening features the “Celebration Fanfare on a Theme by Haydn” by James Curnow – a sonorous homage to Joseph Haydn. With the lively overture “Fesche Geister” by Carl Michael Ziehrer and the two works “Mein Lebenslauf ist Lieb' und Lust” (Waltz op. 263) and “Ohne Sorgen” (Quick Polka op. 271) by Josef Strauss, the Military Band pays tribute to the great masters of Austrian entertainment music.

A special highlight of the concert evening will be the solo vocal performances by Anna Widmer. With the famous “Vilja-Lied” from Franz Lehár's operetta The Merry Widow and “Mein Lippen, sie küssen so heiß” from Emmerich Kálmán's operetta Giuditta, she adds a splendid operettic accent to the concert.

Equally impressive is the piano soloist Corporal Enrico Sieber, who, together with the Military Band Burgenland, interprets George Gershwin’s legendary “Rhapsody in Blue.” This work is among the most significant compositions of the 20th century and uniquely combines classical music with the sounds of jazz.

Other highlights of the concert program include “Eiffel Tower” by Otto M. Schwarz, which musically transports the audience to Paris, and “Godzilla Eats Las Vegas!” by Eric Whitacre, which captivates with impressive tonal colors and cinematic drama. The varied program is further complemented by additional works that promise to make the concert evening a special musical experience.

With this versatile program, the Military Band Burgenland spans a musical arc from the classical overture to Viennese waltz and operetta tradition, all the way to modern symphonic brass music. The autumn concert promises an evening full of musical highlights and extraordinary solo performances.

The Military Band Burgenland looks forward to welcoming numerous visitors to an atmospheric concert evening at the Cultural Center Güssing.
Note: The event takes place in the outdoor arena; in case of bad weather, it will be held in the Cultural Center.
