Book presentation & discussion: PEPEK - A child survives the Holocaust

02.06.2026

Is it easier to grasp the large and heavy history if we learn to understand it from the perspective of exemplary experiences? If so, then engaging with literary texts becomes important.

For several decades, Peter Wagner and Siegmund Kleinl have shaped the profile of the Burgenland literary landscape. To this day, both authors write books in quick succession. The works of these two writers are connected by thematic lines. Important focal points include the theme of religion and the question of Judaism.

Literary scholar Lukas Pallitsch will introduce the works of the two writers and engage in conversation with Siegmund Kleinl and Peter Wagner, focusing on Jewish motifs from a Catholic perspective.
