ABOUT THE CONCERT
They are internationally recognized as pioneers of their respective ensemble and set standards in terms of virtuosity, creativity, and joy of music-making: VCC and MASQ! For three decades, Helmut Hödl's Vienna Clarinet Connection has delighted audiences across Europe, and exceptional saxophonist Gerald Preinfalk has been performing in various formations under the name MASQ for many years. Both ensemble leaders – Hödl and Preinfalk – serve as soloists and composers, pushing the sonic and technical possibilities of the nine woodwind instruments – four clarinets and five saxophones – to the limit in their commissioned compositions. With boundless creativity, incredible virtuoso skills, and overflowing joy in making music, the two ensembles effortlessly bridge a musical spectrum from Viennese classicism to jazz, Brazilian rhythms, tango, and brilliant original compositions. Wood sounds good!
