On May 1, 2026, the European Concert of the Berlin Philharmonic will take place in the magnificent Haydn Hall of Esterházy Palace in Eisenstadt, Austria. Under the leadership of Chief Conductor Kirill Petrenko and featuring the celebrated cellist Gautier Capuçon as soloist, this concert sends a cultural signal for Europe’s humanistic values and musical tradition. Since 1991, the Berlin Philharmonic has celebrated the unity and diversity of the continent with their European Concert at historic locations – from the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona to the ancient Athenian Odeon of Herodes Atticus. Now, the concert returns to the cradle of the Viennese Classicism: to the place where Joseph Haydn worked for almost four decades and where Beethoven was inspired. Through works by Haydn, Stravinsky, Tchaikovsky, and Beethoven, the program connects the past with the future of the European musical tradition. Accompanied by a TV broadcast on ZDF and ARTE, including a documentary about Esterházy Palace and Burgenland, the concert will also captivate millions of viewers worldwide in 2026. Experience this extraordinary concert live – a resounding declaration of Europe’s cultural heritage and its vibrant tradition! Information on ticket sales can be found here.
