Gottfried Reszner finds it exciting to explore the possibilities of watercolor painting time and again. It is particularly important to him to extract "painterly worthiness" from his immediate surroundings, the landscape of southern Burgenland, in its apparent simplicity. He is also interested in classical watercolor areas such as Tuscany or "TIME AND AGAIN VENICE …" as well as other artists who have dedicated themselves to this technique.
As appealing as the artistic confrontation with the beauties of this unusual city is in his watercolors, it is equally challenging to generously correspond to the Venetian memories with the more compact possibilities of acrylic painting. They remain etched in memory, even if one has not been there for a long time, … and thus appear even more mysterious and fairy-tale-like … and sometimes also more colorful and splendid. Unobtrusive details suddenly become more concrete and reveal themselves in a elegantly restrained light, the source of which disappears in the blur. In recent years, he has gained additional exciting fields of activity as a book illustrator and in working with colored glass.
Exhibition duration: September 16, 2026 to October 23, 2026 during the opening hours of the Oberschützen cultural center and at events.
