The excursion leads to the protected area "Wenzlanger" and is accompanied by professionally competent nature conservation officials from Burgenland.
The protected area is a remarkably species-rich, valuable dry and nutrient-poor grassland on serpentinite substrate in the Bernsteiner Mountains between the towns of Bernstein and Redlschlag and offers an impressive panoramic view into the Oberpullendorfer Basin, reaching the Neusiedler Lake, into Southern Burgenland, to the Wechsel, into the Bucklige Welt, and beyond.
In addition to expert explanations on nature conservation, nature reserves, and the plants and animals found there, information about the landscape and geology of the area and its surroundings will also be provided.
Excursion leader: Josef Weinzettl
