Franz Froschauer & Max Prenner – hugging!

22.04.2026

The Joseph Haydn Private University invites you to a special chamber music evening at the former synagogue of Kobersdorf. At the center is the composer Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, one of the great masters of the string quartet, whose music engages in a tension-filled dialogue with works of the Austrian composer Alexander Zemlinsky.

Mendelssohn's String Quartet op. 12 No. 1 encounters Zemlinsky's 1st String Quartet – two works that illuminate Romanticism from different perspectives.

An evening concert full of contrasts, where light and shadow, structure and breakthrough, intimacy and drama are juxtaposed.
