The years 1938 to 1945 are also considered the darkest chapter in the history of Burgenland. The special exhibition showcases the biographies of people who not only adapted to the Nazi regime but also took advantage of it to profit from the suffering of others. Counterbalancing these sometimes inhumane crimes are the life stories of the Righteous, who were honored for their actions. Those who opposed the regime and were executed as resistance fighters also find their place here.
