Musical reading "A Pilgrimage to Beethoven" with Karl Markovics & Florian Krumpöck (piano)
In 1840, the French music magazine Journal de Paris published the novella "A Pilgrimage to Beethoven" – a narrative written by a young and still unknown Richard Wagner in his financial distress for the magazine. The fictional journey of Richard Wagner to his long-deceased idol Beethoven turns into an entertaining story full of wit and reveals in the end almost more about its author than about the master himself.
Karl Markovics' storytelling art merges with virtuosic-dramatic works from the pen of Beethoven, ultimately revealing the true theme: the music. Works by composer Ludwig van Beethoven form the musical focus of the concert evening – interpreted by none other than pianist Florian Krumpöck. Experience up close the actor, screenwriter, director, multiple Romy Award winner, and Oscar winner Karl Markovics in the intimate sitting room of Maria Theresa at Schloss Halbturn!
