Founded in 2022 by students of the Vienna University of Music, the Motus Quartet has quickly made a prominent name for itself – through various prizes and awards as well as celebrated performances at home and abroad. In the Empiresaal of Schloss Esterházy, the four young musicians present themselves with a magnificent program consisting of three milestones of the genre. With the half dozen of his Opus 20, Joseph Haydn elevated the string quartet to a new level of musical art. A half-century later, Ludwig van Beethoven opened the gates to modernity in his late string quartets – gates that for a long time few dared to cross. It was Béla Bartók who took the plunge. A matinee entirely dedicated to breathtaking innovations.
