KLANGherbst | Song of the World in Commemoration of the November Pogroms

06.11.2026

November 9, 1938 marks one of the darkest days in Austrian history. On the 88th anniversary of the "Reichskristallnacht," we remember the Jewish victims.
The event is dedicated to the dignified commemoration of the victims of war, violence, and Nazi persecution and is at the same time a call for peace, reconciliation, and European unity.

In memory of the victims of violence and terror and as a reminder against forgetting, scientific lectures will be held by Dr. Robert Streibel (Lower Austria) and Dr. Philipp Rohrbacher (Vienna) as well as Dr. Gerold Gruber. In the musical framework program, we will give voice to the works of the marginalized composers. For this purpose, a video installation has been commissioned from the artist Elizaveta Kapustina, which
will reveal the individuals hidden behind the compositions.
The concert features Polish and Austrian artists connected with Vienna, Warsaw, and Krakow. The concert was created in collaboration with the Austrian festival of marginalized music “FREMDE ERDE,” which is dedicated
to the work of composers who were persecuted, marginalized, forced into exile, or murdered by the Nazis in the 20th century.
