Operette "Vienna blood"

05. - 23.08.2026

Wiener Blood – this is Viennese charm, a rush of melodies, and a pinch of amorous turbulence in three acts! As a "comic operetta," this musical gem presents the unmistakable style of the waltz king Johann Strauss (Son), artfully combined by the cunning conductor Adolf Müller Junior. The libretto was written by Victor Léon and Leo Stein.

Although the aging Strauss was no longer able to compose a new stage work due to health issues, he was convinced after some persuasion: Müller Jr. wove together over 30 works of the master – including immortal waltzes like "Wiener Blood" and "Morgenblätter," as well as the fast polka "Leichtes Blut" – into a delightful potpourri of zest for life.

The plot? Just as it should be: a firework of emotions revolving around the charming Count Zedlau, who gets entangled in a web of misunderstandings and affairs during the Congress of Vienna. But don't worry – as befits an operetta, a happy ending awaits, with couples reuniting and hearts beating in three-quarter time.

After the rather modest premiere in 1899, "Wiener Blood" became a true crowd puller from the revised version in 1905 – a worldwide triumph that continues to this day. And now, finally, we may welcome the celebrated maestro of Viennese waltz bliss at Schloss Tabor – a musical feast that no one should miss!
