Stadtspaziergang Rust -Die Stadt und der Wein

21.03.2026

As part of the Austria Guides Burgenland Weekend, a special themed city walk awaits you in the free town of Rust, focusing on history and winemaking.

On Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 2:00 PM, guide Gerald Szivacz invites you to a two-part tour entitled
“The Development of the City and the Role of Wine”.

This city walk combines theory and practice:
First, participants will learn interesting facts about the historical development of the town of Rust and the significant role of winemaking for the economy, society, and identity of the city. This is followed by the practical part, which includes a tasting of the so-called Ruster Wine Trilogy - white, red, and sweet - offering a delightful insight into the variety of the region.

Meeting point is the town hall at Conradplatz 1, 7071 Rust.

Participation in the tour is free of charge.
However, a donation of 5.00 euros per person is requested for the benefit of the Evangelical Parish of Rust.

Additionally, there is a contribution of 6.00 euros per person for the wine tasting.

Registration is required and can be done directly with Gerald Szivacz at gerald.szivacz@bnet.at or +43 676 440 82 11

Experience Rust from a historical and enjoyable perspective and discover why wine has been inextricably linked with the history of this special town for centuries.
