Women's worlds - reading with music

22. - 23.05.2026

Valentina Himmelbauer. Astrid Perz. Johanna Himmelbauer.

The actresses Valentina Himmelbauer and Astrid Perz read their own poems and texts written by their (great) grandmothers (Felicitas Frischmuth-Riedl, Ottilie Knor, Rosalia Maurer), which discuss the experience of womanhood in different historical periods. In the process, a dialogue emerges among the women, tracing the connections that span generations. On their journey through various women's worlds, the two actresses are accompanied by Johanna Himmelbauer on piano, who, as Rosalia's granddaughter and Valentina's aunt, bridges the generations of women. Only works by female composers are presented as part of the musical accompaniment.
The issue of violence against women is unfortunately a global problem. Inspired by the UN campaign Orange the World, which stands for the elimination of violence against women, the artists aim to support the fight against this issue by addressing it during their reading and thereby giving it more visibility.
