Viticulture has been of great importance in Neckenmarkt since the Middle Ages. In the museum, one learns the essential differences between the historical and today's viticulture.
Part of the museum is the flag swinging, an old tradition from Neckenmarkt, which has its origins in the year 1620. During the Battle of Lackenbach, the farmers of Neckenmarkt distinguished themselves through their heroic efforts. As a thank you, they received a flag from Prince Nikolaus Esterházy, along with other privileges.
Even today, the young men commemorate the bravery of their ancestors on the Sunday after Corpus Christi by performing the custom of flag swinging in the historical Hajduken uniform. Since 2018, flag swinging has been part of Austria's intangible cultural heritage.
