In the heart of the Mittelburgenland, where the profound soils meet the Pannonian climate, lies a place where wine is not only produced but lived: the Reumann winery in Deutschkreutz. Here, where viticulture was documented as early as the 14th century and the special quality of wine from "Chreucz" was already mentioned in the 15th century, the passion for wine remains deeply rooted to this day.
The history of Deutschkreutzer wine is impressive: from a valued export commodity in the 18th century to the "medicinal application" of red wine in the castle cellar – wine has always been more than just a luxury here. Even during the Kuruc wars, a ceasefire was arranged to protect the grape harvest – such was the importance of the juice of the vine back then.
Today, the Reumann family continues this tradition with dedication. On approximately 25 hectares of vineyard, fruity, lively, and harmonious wines are created – foremost the Blaufränkisch, the flagship of the estate. But Zweigelt, St. Laurent, Pinot Noir, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon also impressively showcase the region's potential. White wines like Chardonnay and Welschriesling round out the selection. Following the motto "Less is more," Reumann puts nature at the center – just like previous generations. Everyone in the family business has their role and contributes wholeheartedly. The goal: wines with personality, character, and origin.
A truly special experience is to not only taste these wines but to enjoy them where they are created: during a vineyard tour with a picnic or a cellar tour with tasting. Among the vines, conversations about wine, weather, and life create a sense that this is about more than just wine – it's about homeland, history, and enjoyment in its finest form.
"Let's taste our wines together, chat about the wine, about ourselves and the weather, and enjoy a few hours far away from everyday life." - Grenzlandhof Winery Reumann
