The Pauliner Monastery in Baumgarten, also known as the "Desolate Monastery," was founded in 1475 and is one of the most important cultural monuments in the region. The late Gothic building with Baroque furnishings once served as a hermit monastery and is now a place of Marian devotion, especially for the Burgenland Croats. From May to October, Croatian Fatima celebrations take place on the 13th of each month. The monastery complex is open year-round and can also be visited internally by prior arrangement. A special natural monument is the winter lime tree planted in 1762 in front of the monastery.
Also worth seeing is the winter lime tree, planted in 1762 in front of the monastery, which has been designated as a natural monument.
