Kremayrhaus - City Museum

The city museum showcases the art collection of Rudolf Kremayr, the last owner of the house, who donated it to the Free City of Rust in 1986. He was one of the co-founders of the DONAULAND publishing house in Austria!

On two floors, there are Bauernmöbel from Western Austria, which have been lovingly staged. A special object is a tile stove made by the artist Koschka in 1895, which had traveled halfway around the globe before finding its final destination in Rust. The stove represents a so-called "Bible of the Poor." Furthermore, various paintings, tapestries, and pieces of furniture are on display, which highlight the 17th-century house in a special way. Additionally, significant pieces from the Rust city archive are exhibited, including the most important document of the city – namely, the one granting the status of Free City.

Throughout the year, the collection is enriched by special exhibitions such as Easter market and Christmas exhibition, as well as works by contemporary artists.
