Set in the wide, open landscape between the Leitha Mountains and Lake Neusiedl, the natural beauty of the Ruster Hills surprises the visitors of the Lake Neusiedl region. Rightly, UNESCO has declared the region and the St. Margarethen Quarry a World Heritage Site.
Since 1996, the St. Margarethen Quarry has been a leading venue in Europe for international opera lovers. The location in the center of a historically significant cultural landscape promises a journey into unique experiential worlds. Aiming to present popular and high-quality opera productions, the opera in the quarry attracts both an enthusiastic audience as well as international opera stars and renowned musicians.
