In 1925, the employment office was moved from Markt St. Martin to Neutal and served as the district employment office until it was forcibly relocated by the Nazi regime in 1938. In the war year 1945, the building was destroyed along with the adjacent Biribauer inn during heavy fighting – 80 people lost their lives.
The municipality of Neutal has redesigned this historically significant site as a memorial for "work, economy, and jobs" as part of the square and green space design.
On seven thematic panels, the development of working life in Neutal is scientifically examined and complemented by impressive, emotional drawings – a place of remembrance and engagement with one's own history.
