The former synagogue, located in close proximity to the castle, was built in 1860 and served as a cultural and spiritual center for the Jewish residents of Kobersdorf until their expulsion in 1938. The building is a beautiful and, in many ways, typical example of 19th-century synagogue architecture and is now a listed monument.

In 2022, the building was reopened after extensive renovation and is intended to be a visible sign that the province of Burgenland is aware of its Jewish traditions and its responsibility for the Jewish victims of the Nazi era. With a focus on Jewish culture and history, the former synagogue will henceforth operate as a center for culture, science, and education.
