1906 - Lutzmannsburg pure
"1906" is a single-varietal Blaufränkisch from Lutzmannsburg. The wine is vinified exclusively from the grapes of a special single vineyard, the Haider vineyard:
The Alte Haider was planted in 1906 by Hans Rohrer’s grandfather, Karl Rohrer Sr., and acquired by the Rohrer family in the 1920s. This vineyard is one of the oldest vineyards in Burgenland still producing in its original state. After more than 100 years, it still delivers outstanding quality.
The Blaufränkisch "1906" is deliberately aged in large wooden barrels. The inaugural vintage is from 2000, followed by the outstanding vintage of 2001. After 2003, 2004, the anniversary vintage of 2006, and 2008, the vintage of 2011 also impresses.
The over 100-year-old vines and the Lutzmannsburg terroir give this Blaufränkisch its uniquely individual character: spicy, fruity, and of impressive complexity.
