The K+K Kirnbauer winery in Deutschkreutz is a well-established name in Mittelburgenland – known for its characterful red wines and its consistent commitment to conscious viticulture. Since 1975, the family-run winery has been managed by Markus and Marlene Kirnbauer, who cultivate around 45 hectares of prime vineyards with great innovation and respect for nature. Since 2014, the winery has been officially certified as conscious and is now one of the leading organic operations in the region.
The vineyards are located in renowned sites such as Kart, Altes Weingebirge, and Weisses Kreuz. The combination of ideal soils, over 300 sunny days a year, and meticulous manual work in the vineyard forms the foundation for expressive wines with depth and finesse. In the cellar, Markus Kirnbauer focuses on precise vinification with great sensitivity, often in small wooden barrels: Around 1,000 barriques are stored in the cellars – each one regarded as an “independent project.”
K+K Kirnbauer is particularly known for the legendary “Phantom” – an elegant red wine cuvée that has been capturing international attention since 1987. Other top wines include “Forever” (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc), the terroir-driven “7301 Blaufränkisch,” as well as the barrel-fermented Chardonnay “Zwickl.”
Tastings take place in the in-house “Chateau,” which overlooks the vineyards and offers an impressive view over Blaufränkischland. Guests can experience the wines in a relaxed atmosphere – upon request, including a cellar tour or sunset on the panoramic terrace.
