Festival Cycle Path ("Festival-Radweg")

On the trail of culture and cuisine

On the western side of Lake Neusiedl, this route connects some of the most beautiful places in Burgenland and combines cultural highlights with appealing wine and culinary experiences. There is so much to see here, every stop becomes an experience.

Along the way, you’ll encounter the picturesque towns of Donnerskirchen and Rust with their baroque townhouses, take a look behind the scenes of the festival venues Mörbisch am See and St. Margarethen, and admire the magnificent Esterházy Palace in the Haydn metropolis of Eisenstadt. You’ll find enticing gourmet delights at the Taubenkobel in Schützen, at the wine taverns in Rust, in the local wine academy, and at Schlossvinothek Eisenstadt. A varied and colorful range of inns and taverns are to be found along the route. In the evenings, there are a number of attractive highlights at various locations during the festival season.

The well-signposted circular route is fairly flat in parts, while other sections are more demanding. It is best to check the prevailing wind direction beforehand, you can then plan the route with “the wind at your back”, because the wind rarely dies down on Lake Neusiedl. The Austrian Sailing Weather Center provides information online about the current conditions and also outlines the trend for the coming hours.

There are wonderful experiences to be had on some sections of the festival cycle path (Festival-Radweg), you don’t necessarily have to complete the entire route!
