The Sonnenland Route offers a refreshing mix of significant cultural sites, small-scale vineyards, and culinary stops. Unspoiled nature alternates with exciting sights that are always worth a break to explore. The route takes you, for example, through the cross-border Geschriebenstein-Irottkö Nature Park or the Landseer Mountains. Nestled along fully paved, mostly low-traffic farm roads and bike paths, you can comfortably experience the most beautiful aspects of the sunny heart of Burgenland. Four day stages ranging from 30 to 50 kilometers in length provide plenty of time to get off your bike every now and then and take in the surroundings.
You can hop off your bike and immerse yourself in history at places like Lockenhaus Castle, Franz Liszt’s birthplace in Raiding, or during an exclusive guided tour of Lehmden Castle in Deutschkreutz. Food and wine enthusiasts can stop at one of the many wineries or wine shops to sample the region’s culinary highlights right on the spot.
