Basket weaving has a long tradition in Burgenland; in the past, many households in Burgenland wove baskets during the winter. However, over time, this craft has nearly been forgotten. Therefore, learn the handiness of this technique under expert guidance and take your self-made artwork home. In the 7-hour course, a bread basket or a basket with a hole handle will be woven.
Bread Basket/Basket with Hole Handle
We will weave a little basket for bread, fruit, vegetables, and all sorts of small items. The first basic steps of weaving a basket will be demonstrated here. An ideal introduction to basket weaving. And for those who wish, the practical hole handles can be woven in as well.
Small Willow Knowledge
At the beginning, there will also be a brief overview of the cultivation, care, harvesting, and storage of basket willows. We will provide information on the right choice of location and which varieties are best suited for which purposes.
