The Christmas market at Mattersburg's event square presents itself newly designed this year and provides a festive and Christmassy atmosphere over three Advent weekends. Visitors can look forward to a diverse range of gastronomy, handicrafts and live music.
A key component of the Christmas market is gastronomy – delicious food and warming drinks significantly contribute to the special ambiance. This year, the culinary offerings are expanded with additional stalls. Many clubs are participating, and the selection of handicrafts is larger than ever – from jewelry, candles, and ceramics to handmade soaps and much more.
The official opening will take place on Friday, December 5. To kick things off, St. Nicholas will visit the event square, followed by the Perchten from Mattersburg's Schloss Teifln – of course, child-friendly.
From Friday to Sunday, live music will be offered at all market weekends – the program ranges from classical brass ensembles to festive jazz, pop, and rock tunes. The market will also be open on Monday, December 8, with live music available.
From December 6, Christmas trees will again be offered for sale. Another highlight is the Buchteln from the wood oven, which will be freshly baked on-site every Saturday.
On December 24, as every year, the Peace Light can be collected starting at 7 a.m.
