The “Anschluss Monument” Oberschützen was erected after the “Anschluss” of Austria to the National Socialist German Reich in 1938/39 in the southern Burgenland of Oberschützen.

It is considered the largest such National Socialist structure on Austrian soil. This was meant to “replace” another memorial built in Oberschützen, which was also referred to as the “Anschluss Monument”: the “small Anschluss Monument” from 1931 – an “old German sacrificial stone” that was erected on the occasion of the ten-year anniversary of the former Hungarian territory belonging to Austria.
