The Friedensburg Schlaining was first documented in 1271 as "castrum Zloynuk" and was at that time owned by the counts of Güssing. Gradually, the name evolved before it became officially known by its current name in 1786. In the 15th century, the castle came into the possession of the knight Andreas Baumkircher.
Experience the diverse history of the Friedensburg Schlaining under the guiding principle "From Fortress to Peace Castle". In the picturesque setting of the castle, visitors are taken on a journey through six captivating and interactive exhibitions—from the times of the medieval fortress to the center of peace.
The Schloss Schlaining is not only a place of history but also a vibrant center for education and cultural exchange. The numerous exhibitions and events held here make it an important meeting point for people from around the world who are interested in history, peace, and intercultural learning.
