Surfers not only know and love it because of the 300 days of sunshine each year. Lake Neusiedl provides the best conditions for water sports enthusiasts, with an average depth of around 1.5 m and favorable prevailing wind conditions.

The prevailing wind is generally strongest and most frequent from the northwest. A lively breeze that is created by frontal winds. A southerly wind is less common, but not to be sniffed at. This medium to strong fair-weather wind sometimes whips up one-meter high waves.

Around the lake, numerous sailing, surfing, and kiting schools help both beginners and pros get to know a new water sport and Lake Neusiedl a little better. Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) is becoming increasingly popular - it’s a lot of fun and easy to learn in a short time, especially with the help of professionals. Like sea kayaking and canoeing, it is also good for discovering quieter corners of the lake, such as the reed bed, from the water.
