A unique sculpture landscape sprawled across a hill near Pöttsching!
Visitors are guided by the stone sculptures that you can see from one to the next. They’ve lined the way from the social center to Fondsgut in Lichtenwörth since 2008.
The “Symposium of European Sculptors” chaired by Katharina Prantl transferred the works of art from the symposium site in St. Margarethen to Pöttsching. Numerous sculptures by renowned sculptors, created as part of the sculptors symposium led by Karl Prantl in St. Margarethen, line this Sculpture Trail. Prantl was not only an extraordinary artist, but brought the idea of the “Symposium” to the wider world.
The boundary stone is probably Karl Prantl’s most well-known sculpture and was his first commissioned work in the 1950s. It originally stood on Bundesstraße near Nickelsdorf and was intended as a sign of intellectual freedom for artists behind the Iron Curtain.
Karl Prantl was not only born in Pöttsching (1923), he is also buried in the town cemetery (+2010) – he will live on through his unique sculptures.
The Sculpture Trail can be visited all year round at any time!
