The mighty Forchtenstein Castle is the landmark of the Rosalia district. Located on a dolomite rock, it greets its guests from afar.

It has been owned by the Esterhazy family since 1626. Nowadays the castle attracts well over 100,000 guests per year with its numerous exhibitions and events. The historic complex is one of the largest private collections of weapons in Central Europe and also provides an insight into the passion for collecting of the first Prince Paul Esterházy. In the inner courtyard of the castle, the largest secco murals north of the Alps can be seen.

Visitors can choose between various guided tours, according to his interests. Particularly popular, in addition to the castle ticket with guided tour is the "Night Watch" (various dates), where Franciscus Fabiankovich, former castle captain in 1683, awakens to new life for the night watch. Forchtenstein Castle is not only of great interest to history and museum lovers, but is also very popular with families because of the numerous children's events that take place throughout the year. The biggest children's event is probably "Burg Forchtenstein Fantastic", the "Family Draculade" or the "Dragon Festival" in autumn are also very popular with children and well attended. The Easter Market, the Chestnut Festival, the Apple Culinary and the Advent Market complete the event calender of Forchtenstein Castle.

The modern café-restaurant Grenadier, invites you to enjoy regional cuisine in an authentic ambience. The terrace offers a magnificent view of the Wulka Valley to Lake Neusiedl.
