Follow in the footsteps of nobility

Castle and palaces

Up and down the country, historic buildings take you back in time, offering a varied program of events and tours as well as wonderful panoramic views and vistas of the idyllic surroundings.

Even if the fortifications now lie outside the country, as the name refers to the places Ödenburg (Sopron), Wieselburg (Moson), Pressburg (Bratislava), and Eisenburg (Vas), which are now in Hungary, Slovenia, and Slovakia, Burgenland has still has some beautiful palaces and impressive castles for you to discover.

The local ruins also provide impressive backdrops. They are not only a popular destination or starting point for adventurous hikes, but also filming locations for Hollywood blockbusters. Some scenes from the film “The Three Musketeers” were filmed here in Landsee in 1993.

Take an exciting trip into the past, into the world of the Knights Templar, magical events, and noble families. The old walls and noble rooms provide an insight into the rich work and cultural achievements of many centuries.

Come on in and take a journey through the centuries in Burgenland.
